I N T E R I O R
Removing the interior (what was left of it) was a process. The original carpeting had deteriorated to almost a powder. There were skeletal remains of spiders, lizards, flies and several unknown creatures.
The original black interior was not a wise choice for this climate so I chose cream and maroon for interior colors. I recovered the front and rear seats and discovered that he front bucket seats were rather difficult, with lots of complex angles. I used the original seat covers as patterns but they had stretched over the years. Still, after experimentation, it came out fairly well.
The headliner material was not available anymore. However, I found some era style material for $2 a yard at a nearby cloth store. I used about ten yards of seat vinyl and 2 yards of headliner to cpmpletely recover the seats, dash finisher, rear deck, and console.
I have refurbished the airbox, and replaced the foam and seals. I also had the heater core pressure checked. It was good so I reinstalled the airbox.
For the dash, I cut plywood, drilled the holes for the gauges and then finished with polyurethane.
